Thank you for your interest in supporting the Carriage House Theatre! Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about our fundraising efforts, how your donation makes an impact, and the ways you can get involved.
Why are we raising funds right now?
Our theatre has been a vibrant gathering place for years, but our infrastructure needs crucial updates. To ensure we can continue to offer high-quality experiences for our patrons, we are launching a capital campaign to fund essential physical improvements—beginning with the replacement of our 34 year old original seats with more comfortable, modern seating.
What exactly will the raised funds go toward?
The immediate priority is our Seat Replacement Project to improve comfort and accessibility. Any additional funds raised will be directed toward other vital capital improvements, including technical upgrades (such as lighting and sound equipment) and general facility upgrades (flooring, paint ect.).
How much do new seats cost, and what is the campaign goal?
A project of this scale requires a significant investment. We aim to raise enough to fully purchase, ship, and install the new seating and complete the associated renovations. As per current quotes we estimate the cost of this to be $150,000
If I do a one time donation can I still get the Patron Benefits?
Absolutley, you still get the benefits based on your donation amount for one year. eg. a $500 donation would qualify for our Benefactor Tier ($480-$959 annual donation)
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! We are a registered charity. All qualifying donations will receive an official charitable tax receipt for the maximum allowable amount under CRA regulations.
How can I make a donation?
We accept contributions through several convenient methods: Online: Securely via credit card on our campaign webpage www.carriagehousetheatre.com/donate In Person: At the box office during regular business hours or by e-transfer at CHTAlberta@gmail.com
Can I sponsor a specific seat?
Absolutely! We offer a Seat Sponsorship Program as part of our tiered Patron/Sponsor levels or as a one time donation of $500/seat. You can name a seat in honor of a loved one, a business, or your family. A plaque will be permanently affixed to the seat to recognize your generosity. (Please note: Seat sponsorship grants the naming right but does not include ticket reservations for that specific seat for future performances).
Can I cancel my monthly contributions?
Yes, just visit carriagehousetheare.com/donate and login to your account to cancel your monthly donations. Note: cancelling your monthly donations removes our patron benefit package which is based on 1 year of monthly donations.
Why should I support the theatre instead of other possible causes?
Beyond the arts, our theatre serves as a key economic and social pillar. We are a dedicated community employer, providing jobs for local youth, administrative staff, educators, and creative professionals. Supporting this campaign keeps our doors open, stimulates local economic activity, and maintains a creative hub for youth and families.
How does the theatre benefit local youth and artists?
Our facility hosts year-round programming, including youth academies, workshops, movies and local productions. By upgrading our space, we ensure that artists young and old have a safe, professional, and inspiring environment to develop their talents.
I can't donate financially right now. How else can I help?
Your time and voice are incredibly valuable to us! You can support us by:
Volunteering: Help us with campaign events, ushering, or administrative tasks.
Advocating: Share our campaign on social media, tell your friends and family, and help spread the word about the importance of our theatre to the community.
